Poll: Biden leads Democratic field

The national tracking poll on the Democratic presidential race shows former Vice President Joe Biden leading the field so far with strong support from older voters. The survey results also revealed that 40 percent of voters have a neutral opinion about the tax cuts signed by President Donald Trump in 2017.

Methodology

A total of 5,165 adult residents of the United States participated in this early release of data from the UAS post-midterm poll from March 15-April 15, 2019. The respondents are members of USC Dornsife's Center for Economic and Social Research’s Understanding America Study (UAS) probability-based internet panel. The survey will be in the field until Dec. 15.

The sample for this release included 5,076 eligible voters and 2,196 who intended to vote in a 2020 Democratic presidential primary. The poll was conducted in respondents’ choice of English or Spanish. The overall margin of sampling error is +/- 2 percentage points for all U.S. eligible voters and for 2020 Democratic primary voters. Margins of sampling error may be higher for certain subgroups, and those are indicated in the associated banner cross tab release.
